Spring 2010’s Most Wearable Trends

While some new looks are better off left to the Lady Gagas of the world (bondage bustiers, stomach-baring dresses and leather micro-shorts anyone?) these trends scored a perfect 10 on the makes-you-look-awesome scale.

Tie-Dye

he groovy surfer-girl print resurfaces for spring on grown-up cocktail dresses and sleek shirts. If we were betting women, we’d put 10 bucks on this spring trend turning up on the red carpet well before March 2010.

Proenza Schouler, spring 2010

The Feathered Skirt

Spring’s kicky, flirty plume-trimmed skirts pretty much guarantee a fun night out—and at least two dozen “OMG, where did you get that?!” compliments every time you wear it.
Jason Wu, spring 2010

The Fold-Over Neckline

More work-friendly than an off-the-shoulder cut but not quite the basic V, spring’s draped necklines are the perfect way to show off a new necklace—or just your own pretty face.
Alexander Wang, spring 2010

The Tweedy Suit and Monotone Look

Who says tweedy suits are only for ladies who lunch? Spring’s bright, youthful versions look cute on everyone, even if you’re the chowing-down-at-a-diner kind of girl. Not into the tweed thing? Then try the bolder, can’t-miss look of wearing one color head to toe. An outfit like this one will make you seem a little taller—and way more fashion-forward.

Spring 2010’s Most Wearable Trends

Tie-Dye

The groovy surfer-girl print resurfaces for spring on grown-up cocktail dresses and sleek shirts. If we were betting women, we’d put 10 bucks on this spring trend turning up on the red carpet well before March 2010.

The Feathered Skirt

Spring’s kicky, flirty plume-trimmed skirts pretty much guarantee a fun night out—and at least two dozen “OMG, where did you get that?!” compliments every time you wear it.

The Fold-Over Neckline

More work-friendly than an off-the-shoulder cut but not quite the basic V, spring’s draped necklines are the perfect way to show off a new necklace—or just your own pretty face.

The Tailored Vest

Think of it as the cardigan of spring: It’s ideal for layering over dresses and tops but will never get those weird sweater pills, even if you wear it nonstop.

The Drapey Minidress

Be prepared to have some impulsive fun this spring; just throw on one of the season’s filmy silk dresses with a deep-V neckline and you can be out the door (and looking chic) in five minutes flat.

Friendship Bracelets and Not-So-Yellow Mellow

These two trends are as cheery as they come. There’s still time to dig up all those friendship bracelets you’ve got filed away along with your mix tapes, gawky portraits and old origamilike notes from your BFF. Just try to resist the temptation of dotting your i’s with hearts when you wear them.

The Khaki Suit

At last! A warm-weather suit alternative that doesn’t involve wrinkles-when-you-look-at-it-funny linen. Bonus: A tan silk blazer like this one can do double duty. On the weekend, it can be whipped out and used to dress up a basic T-shirt and jeans.

The Scarlet Jacket

Wear a lightweight spring coat in a bright, universally flattering hue like this and everyone will notice how stylish you are, even from a hundred feet away.

Head-to-toe Gray

Neutral colors are a big trend for spring ‘10, but we know that khaki, camel and beige aren’t always flattering to all skin tones. So why not try light gray instead? It’s an easier color to pull off, and it somehow makes office essentials—like button-downs and knee-length skirts—seem movie star-worthy.

The Multiprint Dress

Designers finally figured out that not everyone was blessed with the mix-and-matching gene—they whipped up skirts and dresses that feature several perfectly paired prints!

The Military Coat

A shrunken military jacket like this one from Marc Jacobs will keep the dampness from spring’s showers at bay. (However, you might want to wear yours with pants.)

Lohan to comply with sentence, says lawyer

Lindsay Lohan is set to begin serving a 90-day jail sentence on Tuesday and the troubled young actress will follow through, her new lawyer pledged on the weekend.
Noted attorney Robert Shapiro, best known as a member of the so-called legal "dream team" that represented O.J. Simpson, signed on late last week to represent Lohan.
The actress received the 90-day sentence on July 6 for violating the terms of her probation for drunk driving charges dating from 2007.
"I have agreed to represent Ms. Lohan on the condition she comply with the terms of probation, including a requirement of jail imposed by Judge Marsha Revel," Shapiro said in a statement issued Friday.
"Ms. Lohan is suffering from a disease that I am all too familiar with. Hopefully, I can be of assistance to Ms. Lohan and Judge Revel in implementing a treatment approach recommended by medical professionals for Ms. Lohan's long-term recovery and sobriety," the statement said.
Shapiro's son, Brent, died in 2005 after battling drug and alcohol addiction. After his son's death, the lawyer started a foundation to support those in need of addiction treatment and opened an in-patient, sober living facility called Pickford Lofts.

Isolation cell

Lohan reportedly checked into Pickford Lofts last week.
The 24-year-old former child star is scheduled to begin her sentence Tuesday in a special needs unit at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif.
According to officials, she will live in isolation in a 3.7-metre-by-2.4-metre cell and be allowed outside for an hour each day. She will be issued the same jumpsuit and simple toiletries given to all inmates, as well as be restricted to use of a public pay phone for communication to the outside world.
The prison, located south of downtown Los Angeles, is a 2,200-bed facility that serves as Los Angeles County's only all-female jail. Because of over-crowding and a program that credits inmates for good behaviour, nonviolent female misdemeanour offenders typically serve a reduced sentence.
Lohan previously spent less than 90 minutes at the facility after a drunken driving offence in 2007.
Century Regional is also the same facility where heiress Paris Hilton served 23 days in 2007 for reckless driving. Other famous figures who have been housed at the jail include actress Michelle Rodriguez, actress Daryl Hannah, and reality TV stars Nicole Richie and Khloe Kardashian.

Summer is Coming

It’s springtime in the northern hemisphere and people nearest the equator are starting to feel the warmth of ‘Mister Sun’ as summer approaches.  This is the perfect time to look at current fashion trends on swim wears so you would know what to wear when you hit the beach or spring resort.  Know what monokini and bikini styles are in as well as the cool cover ups for the season.

Swimwear Color and Print

According to top designers, swim wear colors for 2010 are bright and eclectic. Fluorescent colors will be mixed with black and white. This year is a chance to break away from dark neutrals in exchange for color splash. However, if you are trying to create that slimmer look, choose plain dark colors like black.
In terms of design, graphic prints on swim wears will come alive this year. You will see geometric shapes, stripes, animal prints in addition to feminine floral prints. Be sure to match the graphic print design to your body stature.
For a plus size swimwear to be flattering, opt for a medium-size overlapping print. When choosing stripes, remember that horizontal stripes has a widening effect on body shape while vertical and diagonal stripes make you look slimmer.

Swimwear Style

Hottest swimwear styles for 2010 are: Cut-away, Cutouts, Deep V Plunge Neckline, One-shoulder Monokini and Bandeau Bikini tops. Sheer and maxi cover ups are still cool this year and Bohemian look will make a shrill fashion statement. Strapless romper cover up is also hot this year.
Monokini cut-away and cut-outs are swimwear styles for the more daring types with toned bodies and not for the faint of heart. Though they offer more coverage than a bikini, they are more revealing than a one-piece. Be ready for the funny tanning marks that these swim wears leave your skin. Year 2010 swimwear trends feature asymmetry in cutouts such that holes can be on one side only or there are more holes on the other side. Swimsuit with cutouts can make you feel young and hip but make sure to choose swimsuits with strategically placed cutouts to show off your body to its best advantage.
Deep V plunge neckline flatters petite, is bust-enhancing and elongates the neck. A one-piece V neck still looks daring and sexy if it plunges below the bust line or the waistline. If you have long torso, well defined waist and bust (not DD cup), this style is suitable for you.
One-shoulder is a must-have for 2010. Asymmetry doesn’t make you look shorter so this style would be suitable for petites. The exposed one shoulder provides the high fashion look. This style has made splashes on one-piece swimsuits, bikinis and cover-ups. Some designers made stand out pieces by combining the single shoulder style with cut-out.
Bandeau bikini top would also be a hit this year but this is not for busts larger than cup C. Totally bare your shoulders and emphasize your figure as your bandeau top pull everything up.
